Bee goes through another round of staff cuts
I today's SacBee.com I saw this story:
"The Bee today said it will eliminate 32 more jobs as it copes with a continued downturn in revenue. The announcement by Bee Publisher and President Cheryl Dell marked the sixth round of staffing cuts in three years. More than 350 jobs have been eliminated, or more than 25 percent of the total. "The economic recovery expected in our region hasn't turned out the way we expected," Dell said in a memo to employees. "We find ourselves in the same situation as many local businesses: facing the need for continued expense savings." Here is a link to the story It's interesting because I read all of the comments where people are bashing the Bee. Yes it is deserved at times, but even if you don't link the Bee, we need them. Newspapers are the ones the uncover the news. Typically TV news simply does high level reporting. Like them or not we should be support the Bee. |
